Wal-Mart’s first California Neighborhood Market grocery store recently opened in Huntington Beach. The 31,000-square-foot store is situated on Beach Boulevard, and Huntington Beach home owners will love that the store is open 24 hours everyday. It gives them yet another place to do their grocery shopping, and is also a great option for beach-goers being that this is just about the final stop on Beach Boulevard before you reach Pacific Coast Highway. This is the company’s fourth Neighborhood Market location on the West Coast.
Adds Wal-Mart spokeswoman Delia Garcia, “It’s an opportunity to bring affordable groceries to the Huntington Beach community. The location is important also because it is the last stop before the beach, so it’s an opportunity to make sure we serve customers and help them to get their needs before they get to the beach.” There are currently more than 200 of these stores around the country.
Neighborhood Market stores are a concept that some shoppers will find refreshing. While we don’t have many of them on the West Coast, Wal-Mart Supercenters, which are a combination big box store and supermarket, are overwhelming and huge. The much smaller Neighborhood Market will sell things like bakery items, meats, dairy products and frozen foods, in addition to other items.
Wal-Mart says they are focusing on growing the chain on the West Coast. Another Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market store is expected to open in Rancho Santa Margarita, with others planned for Anaheim and Garden Grove. Additionally, Wal-Mart has plans to open a Supercenter in La Habra this fall, as well as one in Irvine in 2013 and one in Huntington Beach with an unannounced date.
Huntington Beach home owners know why this is such a great place to call home! With a variety of local amenities and conveniences, it’s no wonder so many people choose to lay down roots here.
