Are you thinking about selling your Huntington Beach home despite the upcoming holidays? Some might call you crazy, but considering how many interested buyers are still pounding the pavement in search of the ideal property, you might be onto something!
Still, don’t expect a slam dunk. The real estate market has slowed down considerably, which is normal for this time of year. And selling during the holiday season can be tricky, what with holiday parties, decorations and buyer knowledge that your need to sell might outweigh your desire to.
The holidays are a busy time for both sellers and buyers, so here are some tips to make your real estate transaction a smooth one no matter which side of the table you’re sitting on!
- Decorations: Try as hard as you can to contain your decorations to one room in your Huntington Beach home. Remember, your buyers need to be able to envision themselves living in your home for the other 11 months of the year, and massive holiday displays will only impair their imagination. Plus, think of it this way: by keeping all of those other holiday decorations packed up, moving out once your home has sold will be that much easier!
- Outdoor Decor: Confine your outdoor decor to a small area that’s away from the front door! Again, this is to help your buyers’ see the true curb appeal and potential of your home. If it looks like the Griswold’s, it could be light’s out on your sale.
- Buyers, Stay Focused: It’s easy to get wrapped up in the shiny colors of tinsel and the overwhelming smell of potpourri, but your focus should be on the bones of the home. Does the square footage and floorplan fit your needs? Stay focused and don’t get distracted!
- Keep Your Children In Check: If you’re touring homes with your children during the holidays, which you might be thanks to winter recess from school, make sure you’re keeping your kids in check. This includes schooling them on manners when it comes to holiday candy. The last thing a potential seller wants is a chocolate hand smear down their white wall.
