Oktoberfest already kicked off in Munich, but if you’re looking for a celebration that’s closer to your Huntington Beach home, you’re in luck! Old World recently launched their annual Oktoberfest celebration that has everything the real thing does in Germany, including lederhosen and dirndls, bratwursts, oompah bands and plenty of steins filled with beer. Prost!
This is the 36th annual event that is taking place at Old World in Huntington Village. From now until October 27, you can take advantage of an ever-changing schedule of traditional Bavarian events, and some that are unique to the Southern California coast, like Sunday’s Dachshund races. The event will conclude on Sunday, Oct. 29 with an Oktoberfest parade.
For those with little ones, Wednesdays and Thursdays are your best bet, as they are “Family Nite.” These evenings, guests under age 21 are welcome as long as their parents are present. For those of-age, there will be plenty of beer tasting, and everyone will be delighted by traditional German bands, food trucks and more. Sunday is another great day to bring the kids, as during Kinderfest, kids get in for just $2.00 and those under five are free.
If you’re having a hard time separating from Monday Night Football, why not watch it on the big screens at the Old World German Bar? All of the Monday night games during Oktoberfest will be shown, so you can power down some exceptional German beers while you watch good old-fashioned American football. Genius!
It’s a good idea to check the schedule online before you go where you can learn more about the bands playing, times, etc… You can also purchase your entry tickets online to help avoid lines, which is especially helpful on busy days like Friday and Saturday. Beer tasting tickets are also available online.
