Those of us familiar with Huntington Beach’s land- and seascapes know how special it is to live with a view. We also know that a new oceanfront development brings a renewed level of excitement to the community which is why the news that a public dock in Huntington Harbour has been approved for limited commercial development, including a new marina, restaurant space and boating rentals. is such a welcome announcement. The Harmony Cove Marina was approved after the area was dubbed “safe” for Huntington Harbour Yacht Club, which paved the way for public rentals of paddle boards and kayaks.
From a real estate standpoint, there are no immediate plans for residential development but a long-term view is not ruled out. The owner of the property Joe Daichendt said that in a decade or two, he might consider housing plans for the area. Indeed, the area was initially approved for residential development but the City Council approved it only for these limited commercial exposures. But the mere potential for residential homes along the waterfront will only bring more interest, activity and attention to the Harmony Cove Marina.
And for all Huntington Beach residents, the reformation of an abandoned site will only assist in beautifying the local landscape. Currently the area is a dark, desolate corner of the Harbour. With Harmony Cove, it will be reconstructed as a thriving stretch of waterfront with new businesses to attract customers and job seekers. It also serves as another reminder that Huntington Beach remains an attractive option for both entrepreneurs and those considering relocation, or just an amazing place to raise their families. Here’s hoping that the development is a positive one for all of Huntington and it reminds us that our fair city is one of endless property potential.
