Buying a Home can be a stressful situation so making sure you start the process off right is key in creating a smooth purchase from start to close. The most Common Mistake I see most Buyers (First-time and Move Up Buyers) make is starting the process without being pre-approved.
It’s extremely common for most home buyers to start the process of purchasing a home by looking at homes online or going to open houses. Too often I see home buyers who start the process this way end up looking at homes in the wrong price range or not being able to qualify to purchase a home at all. That’s why I always recommend starting the process by speaking with a Mortgage Professional who can tell you exactly how much you can afford to purchase.
Getting pre-qualified before starting the home buying process will do a few things. First it will tell you that you are a qualified buyer and can go look at homes. Second, it will give you an idea of how much your monthly payment will be which is probably the most important piece of the whole process. There are often times when buyers are pre-approved for way more than they want to pay on a monthly basis and by going through this process up-front you can see exactly how much home that payment gets you versus going about it the other way and hoping that the payment is close to what you want to pay per month.
If you are in the process of buying a home or thinking about starting the process, I can help you by putting you in touch with a qualified mortgage professional who can help guide you through the process.
